Overview
Multi-Host Streaming: eBay Live
Live shopping is inherently social, but currently eBay live offers a single-host experience. This project explored what happens when sellers can bring collaborators — co-hosts, guests, partners — into their stream in real time, and what that means for trust, control, and growth on a platform where reputation and revenue are directly on the line. The work sits at the intersection of research and design: understanding a fast-emerging behavior in the livestreaming landscape, and translating it into a foundation a seller-facing product team could actually build on.
Designing for Trust at Speed
The goal was to give sellers a way to collaborate on stream without ever feeling like they'd lost control of it. That meant balancing two things in tension: the need for something fast and low-friction enough to work in the middle of a live show, and the need for something safe enough to protect a seller's reputation, stream quality, and audience trust. Rather than starting from a feature wishlist, the work was grounded in what sellers actually needed from collaboration (2 rounds of UX Research, Competitor Analysis)— and in figuring out where the real leverage was for driving audience growth and stronger business outcomes (Designing both Seller and Viewer experiences).
An MVP Foundation for Multi-Host Streaming
What was handed off out of this work was a first-pass MVP concept [figma prototype]— deliberately scoped as a skeleton foundation rather than a full-featured system — along with the research, principles, and flows behind it. It was built to solve the most immediate, highest-value seller use case first, while leaving clear room for the platform to grow into a broader collaboration ecosystem over time. 🤫 shhhh... that's all I can reveal here. contact me to see and learn more about what I built.
